Is There the Best Weight Loss Diet

For centuries people tried to lose extra weight and this is why dozens of diets were developed. Their inventors and followers think that the diets are the winners and perfect for them, but there is no set decision which diet works best on all people.The researchers at Harvard School of Public Health and the Pennington Biometrical Research Center have decided to compare four diets and find out which ones work best. High carbohydrates, high fat, high protein and low-fat diets were tested for two year.
The results were published in New England Journal of Medicine. They have shown that all of the diets worked wonderful on people reducing their weight and insulin level while increasing lipids. The general point for all of them was that the level of calories should stay low despite of carbohydrates or fat level.
The study was done on 811 overweight adults from Boston, Massachusetts, and Baton, Louisiana, who agreed to try something new for their body weight. Although the basic principles of the diets reflect the most popular ones, the scientists say their diets were not actually based on any of them. However, the diets used in the study corresponded American Heart Association guidelines. Significant result was noticed after six months when many participants lost about 13 pounds regardless of a diet.
During the research the food was not provided to the participants. They have been receiving menus for the first 10 days and then they agreed to make their own meals based on the recommended products. Based on the type of their diet the people were eating a lot of carbohydrates, fat and protein from a variety of healthy products such as olive oil, pasta and peanut butter.
The main idea was in eating healthy food, which helps to reduce weight, but keeps the levels of vitamins and minerals high, providing health and energy to the body. With the right approach and good specialist advice anybody could make a plan, what to eat in order to lose weight and become healthier.
As it has been mentioned before, the scientists came up with the conclusion that low calorie intake is the key to weight loss. But one should not jump with the conclusions. Professor Fontana from Washington University says, “A lot of people think of calorie restriction like eating half a hamburger, half a pack of French fries that you can obtain by reducing in half your portions. That’s calorie restriction with malnutrition.” According to MedilinePlus Medical Encyclopedia, malnutrition is the condition that occurs when a person’s body in not getting enough nutrients.
So, there is no actually perfect or best diet, but whatever a person decides to choose, he or she just needs to remember to eat healthy food and provide enough of nutrients even if the total food intake is low.
